FAQs About Live Online Piano Lessons.

What happens in a typical online piano lesson?

I like to help students understand how the different parts of music fit together. Depending on the lesson length and what you’re working towards, we might cover technique, sight-reading, aural skills, pieces and music theory. Lessons are tailored to the individual, so we can spend more time on what you need most.

Do I need previous experience to start piano lessons?

Not at all. I teach complete beginners as well as advanced pianists working towards diploma level. Lessons are suitable for students from the age of 5, and I’ll adapt the pace and material to suit you.

Can I choose the music I learn?

Yes. I’m very happy for students to suggest pieces they’d like to learn, and I’ll help find repertoire that suits their level and goals. I think enjoying the music matters: when students like what they’re playing, they’re more likely to practise and look forward to lessons.

Do you prepare students for piano exams and auditions?

Yes. I can prepare students for ABRSM exams and diplomas, as well as auditions and competitions. We can talk about your goals and make a plan that suits the time you have and what you’re aiming for.

What do I need for an online piano lesson?

You’ll need an acoustic or digital piano and a laptop, desktop computer or iPad. Rock Out Loud has a desktop version and an app. I’ll send setup instructions in your confirmation email.

How do online lessons work?

Lessons take place through Rock Out Loud. You’ll receive a link to use for each lesson and enter a waiting room before we start. It’s similar to Zoom, but it’s designed for music lessons and gives us better sound quality.

What happens in the intro lesson?

It’s a relaxed, 30-minute chance for us to talk about your experience and what you’d like to learn. You can show me what you can already play, ask any questions and see whether the lessons feel right for you.

Can I book weekly lessons or occasional lessons?

You can choose regular weekly lessons or book individual lessons when you need them. Occasional lessons depend on availability. You’ll find the current rates and available times on this page.

Do you teach pop and jazz as well as classical piano?

My teaching is mainly classical, but I’m happy to work on pop and jazz pieces too. Jazz improvisation isn’t my specialist area, but if you have a piece you’d like to learn, we can discuss whether it would suit your lessons.

Do you teach students outside Spain?

Yes. I teach students online around the world. Lesson times depend on availability, so please check the calendar to see the current options.
